Big Sammy's Hot Dogs
By KenBJammen on Mar 22, 2010 | In In real life
There is nothing more important to a gigging musician than making sure that all the equipment is set up right and set up on time with a good sound check.. Unless there is good food to have.
On Saturday March 20, our band Xylem was performing in Elgin Il, and we wanted to grab a bite to eat before we unloaded and got set up. We drove around for a few minutes and found a place that looked pretty busy and thought that the local people probably knew better than us.
After entering the busy little place we found out that they were donating 100% of sales to a local food pantry, plus taking donations. I thought, really cool, gave a donation, and we placed our orders. Now as a lover the Gyro I am extremely picky about how I want my Gyros. Sammy got it right, great sauce and tons of meat (which is not the norm). My band mates raved about their food also, and we can be pretty tough to please. Now this was not the normal really good food, this was the type of food that you make sure when you are within 50 miles you stop. Good food, good service, just like you would expect.
My wife hit me up when I finally got home for the evening to make a road trip. I guess we will be driving 75 miles for Gyros sometime in the next month.
A super thumbs up to Big Sammy's for supporting the local food pantry. In tough times it is great to see a business owner rolling up their sleeves and doing what is needed for the community. For more information visit their web site http://www.bigsammyshotdogs.com/
It should be noted that no one in this review was compensated in any manner by anyone well except we did pay for our food.
